A Slow Breakfast
Most mornings, like many working moms, I’m just about getting out of the house on time. You know the drill-heavy bags dragging each shoulder down, slurping a cup of milk and gulping down breakfast-those kinds of mornings are many.
But on the mornings where I don’t teach an early class or train an early client, I eat a slow breakfast-and it feels almost like a luxury! I actually plate my food, pick out one of my favorite bright and happy mugs (often from a destination gift shop I’ve collected), and I sit down and actually enjoy each morsel of deliciousness.
From all the self-help books and eastern philosophy I’ve digested I know how healthy and important it is for me to slow down. The mindfulness movement has it right! Bringing presence to the moment, even a breakfast moment, carries a sense of joy and fullness. Just the act of carving out a simple slow five minutes can affect the way you carry on through the rest of our day.
There are plenty of week days where I hustle out the door, and many days that feel endless and tiring. When you can steal a moment or two in the morning to sit down and enjoy the most important meal of the day, give yourself that slow breakfast.
So What’s for Breakfast?
- Blueberry Vitamuffin with Justin’s Vanilla Almond Butter
- Bowl full of Black Cherries
- Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
- On my way to Beehive Cafe after this to get some Coconut Tea with Steamed Soy (Thanks for my forever morning drink Allison Farias!)
I love coffee/tea mugs as well. Awaiting a new one from Anthropologie today. 🙂
